"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God...and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us...".
Jesus' name before He was born of Mary was "the Word". His function in Genesis Chapter 1 was as the mouthpiece of the Father. The Father imagined creation, the Word spoke what the Father had imagined, and the Holy Spirit "hovered over the waters" and brought what was spoken to come to pass. Names have meanings in the Bible. Jesus is Greek and means "Jehovah is Salvation". Yeshua is the Hebrew for Jesus. And Joshua (close to the pronunciation of Yeshua) is the English for Jesus.
